Arrrr! Skull King Rick
Rick Porter - America's #3 Skull King Player
Welcome
You've reached the official website of the Pirate Rick Porter,
a man so extraordinarily talented that he almost became
The 2026 Skull King U.S. National Champion.
Almost.
Very, very almost.
Well... not that almost.
Let's just say there were only two people between me
and immortality.

The Legend

In August 2026, fifty-seven hopeful pirates and 7 regional champions descended upon Gen Con in Indianapolis to compete in the Grandpa Beck's Skull King U.S. National Championship. Only five would survive to the championship table. Against overwhelming odds, impossible probabilities, and several questionable bids, I became one of those five.
At this point you're probably thinking: "Wow... so you won?"
No. The guy who won, Griff Briggs, had learned the game that day.
I'm still processing that.
The Final Battle
It's after midnight. The room is silent. Five elite competitors remain. National glory hangs in the balance. I confidently bid two tricks. I then proceeded to win...Five.
For those unfamiliar with Skull King, this is comparable to entering a pie-eating contest and accidentally swallowing the table. Meanwhile, the tournament ended with the rarest finish imaginable. The Skull King himself appeared. Then a Mermaid defeated him on the final card of the tournament.
It was an unforgettable moment. Mostly because it wasn't me.

Things I Can Truthfully Say

-
I was Top 5 in America.
-
I finished ahead of 57 other competitors, 7 regional winners, last year's winner, and beat Grandpa Beck himself.
-
I survived every regional champion and played against 1 of them.
-
I played in one of the greatest championship endings in Skull King history.
-
I own exactly one bronze medal and approximately seventeen stories about it.
-
I have absolutely no problem mentioning any of this within the first three minutes of meeting you.
